Last Call: Summer Teacher Training Scholarships

NCBIDA welcomes your interest in obtaining training in multisensory structured language approaches. We will be distributing a number of partial scholarships for Slingerland training in San Francisco and San Jose during the summer of 2006. We recommend that you read through our latest Fall and Winter e-newsletters for additional information, including testimonials from last year's recipients. Applications postmarked by Saturday, April 15, 2006 will be given first priority. Other applications are welcome through the end of the month and will be considered until all funds have been granted.

Please be aware that there are two separate processes: 1) applying for and enrolling in a teacher training course and 2) applying for a teacher training scholarship. Time is critical with both as spaces and funding are limited.

To apply for a scholarship for teacher training, please carefully follow the instructions on our website under Scholarships. If you have questions about the scholarship application process, please contact Andrea Shuel at scholarships@dyslexia-ncbida.org. Scholarship recipients will be notified of their awards in mid-May.

The NCBIDA observes the following guidelines in awarding scholarships: Scholarships are only awarded for training programs approved by IMSLEC (the International Multisensory Structural Language Education Council).

  • This summer only Slingerland training programs are IMSLEC-approved and therefore eligible for scholarships.
  • First priority for scholarships will be given to classroom teachers, especially those working with children in grades K-2. In making our awards we look for the "multiplier effect," meaning that we strive to fund MSLI for those educators who are most likely to have a significant effect on a large number of students in the classroom setting over a significant span of time. Contact information for the two Slingerland trainings being offered in the Bay Area this summer is noted below. Proof of enrollment is required in order to apply for one of our partial scholarships.
