Letter From the President
Wading through test scores can be like driving on a foggy day. Parts may be indiscernible and you may wish that you could get the bigger picture more clearly. Our Feb 11th event, Making Sense of Test Scores: How to Understand a Comprehensive Test Battery, will be informative for both educators and parents. Come spend the morning with us and get a clearer understanding of what test scores measure and what they mean.
We will soon be heading into the summer 2006 teacher scholarship season. Did you know that over the past five years our branch has given scholarships to more than 125 Northern California teachers in IMSLEC-approved multisensory structured reading programs? This has impacted thousands of children in Northern California! We are in the process of raising funds for this year's scholarship program. We invite you to make an investment in the education of Northern California teachers and students by partnering with us. Please see the Support Teacher Scholarships article of this newsletter for more information about opportunities to give to our scholarship program.
We will have scholarship applications available on-line in March for teachers interested in training in Slingerland and other IMSLEC approved programs. Applications will be due by April 15. We encourage you to set aside time this summer for training. It is a fabulous life-changing opportunity.
Sincerely,
Barb Langeloh
President, NCBIDA
