I am trying to raise funds for the Dyslexia Dash, a family fun run and fundraiser that will benefit the Northern California Branch of The International Dyslexia Association (NCBIDA). The Dash will take place on Saturday, May 1, 2010, 9:00-12:00 pm at Coyote Point Park, San Mateo.
Dyslexia is a language-based learning disability that affects up to 20% of the population and can severely affect the academic and life success of individuals. With early diagnosis and proper instruction, students can overcome the disability and go on to lead highly productive lives. NCBIDA is one of the prime resources in the Bay Area for people with dyslexia, with a teacher scholarship program, workshops and events, a referral program, and other educational and outreach efforts.
