Nationally-recognized, expert researcher in Reading, Dr. Joseph Torgesen, will address these key questions:

  • What is required for a child to become a skilled, fluent reader?
  • What have we learned about interventions for students having difficulty learning to read?
  • What does it take to get all of our children to become strong readers?

Dr. Torgesen has been an expert in the field of Reading for over 30 years. He is currently the Robert and Eugenia Morcom Chair of Psychology and Education at Florida State University and is Director Emeritus of the Florida Center for Reading Research. His work has been supported by grants from the National Institutes of Child Health and Human Development, the United States Department of Education, and private foundations.

He is the author of over 180 articles and books. His current professional service includes a Presidential appointment to the National Board of Education Sciences in Washington D.C. Dr. Torgesen has been recognized not only for his research but also for his national leadership in translating research into practice. All educators and parents interested in improving reading in children will come away inspired and armed with actionable, research based ideas!
